The vacation region of Treis-Karden, 40 km up the Moselle from Koblenz and 12 km (7.4 miles) from Cochem, comprises 17 local communities and stretches from the front Hunsr\u00fcck over the romantic Moselle valley to the heights of the Eifel. The collegiate church of St. Castor with its mighty towers still dominates the townscape of Treis-Karden. With its Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque style elements, it is one of the most important sacred buildings on the Moselle in terms of art history.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBesides the church, Karden has many remarkable houses in the collegiate district and the collegiate museum with finds from Celtic, Roman and Frankish times. The Martberg near Pomerania was an important cult site in Celtic and Roman times. Information about the excavation site and the finds of the Celtic-Roman sanctuary on the Pomeranian Martberg is provided by the exhibition in the \"Alte Schule\" community center, Am Spilles in Pomerania. Guided tours of the temple complex on the Martberg can be booked all year round.

Pure nature and culture is the name of the game during hikes...<\/strong><\/h2>
\n...through our romantic Eltzbach valley into the surrounding area. Our hotel offers a unique starting point for countless hikes. On kilometer-long hiking trails, leisurely walks, but also extended hikes are possible. Through vineyards, forests and meadows, past deeply cut stream valleys with old mills, the hiking trails lead to magnificent vantage points, lonely farmsteads, cozy country inns, romantic castles, castle ruins and villages with Mosel-Franconian half-timbered and quarry stone houses.\n\nYou can hike at a leisurely pace along the Eltzbach stream or directly along the Moselle with a fantastic view of the Moselle landscape, or you can hike a bit more challenging to Eltz Castle and the Eifel heights. For climbing enthusiasts, the Bremer Calmont, the steepest vineyard in the world with a 67% incline, is a great option.

The boxwood trail<\/strong><\/h2>
\nA hiking recommendation, which should definitely be part of your program. In the steep slopes of the Middle and Lower Moselle is, due to the mild climate, the northernmost occurrence of wild boxwood stands in Europe. The largest contiguous distribution area is between Karden and M\u00fcden. As part of the Moselle Experience Route, this special hiking trail was created between Treis-Karden and M\u00fcden. Here the evergreen plant covers an area of about 300 ha. During a hike through the vineyards, a Mediterranean fragrance spreads on hot days. Even today, in the Moselle region, the \"palm branches\" are tied from boxwood on Palm Sunday and consecrated in church. They are hung in the house and yard as a hand bouquet and confer God's blessing.\n\nThe boxwood hiking trail has a length of 4.1 km (2.5 miles) and connects the villages of Karden and M\u00fcden. It leads partly over narrow vineyard or rock paths. Sturdy shoes and surefootedness are therefore required. Information boards at the starting points (in Karden at the end of the Burg Eltz Trail and in M\u00fcden at the Early Franconian burial ground) show the course of the trail. Four theme boards describe boxwood, flora and fauna, St. Castor and the Moselle terraced landscape.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
